Covid-19 Guidelines/ Services

Updated on January 14, 2021

As we continue to heavily weigh the safety of our members, attendees and the community, we urge all our members, regular attendees and guests follow these guidelines to give the highest possibility of  safety for all concerned:

GCUMC Covid-19 guidelines & Protocols

  • Please stay home if you feel ill, off at all, or have a fever.
  • Please wear a mask, that covers your mouth & nose, if you are 6 years of age or older. Please bring one with you, if you do not have a mask, we will offer you one. A full-face shield or eye protectant is now being recommended by the CDC as the virus can enter through your eyes.
  • Please use the hand sanitizer being provided for you, as you walk in the door.
  • If you have Tested positive for Covid please stay home and quarantine until you have received a negative test.
  • If you have tested positive or have potentially been exposed, please let us know immediately, so we can pray for you and begin contact tracing.
  • If you have been exposed, we strongly encourage you to get tested and let us know of the results.
  • If a member or attendee is in church during a time that they have tested positive, we will contact attending parties to alert them of potential exposure. We will also shut down the in-person services for a minimum of 2 weeks.
  • The Sanctuary, Narthex and the bathrooms will be sanitized before the service.
  • Services will not exceed a capacity of 50 total individuals at this time.

Also, while in the church please;

  • Please remain 6ft apart at all times (family members of the same house are exempt) we will be spacing out seating in the pews.
  • Please avoid congregating anywhere on the property, we ask that you go right to your seat and leave the property as soon as the service is over.
  • No more than one person in the bathroom at a time. A parent may accompany a small child.
  • Please exit after the service only when your section is signaled to depart. This will maximize the potential for social distancing.

What does a Worship Only Service Strategy Look like?

  • We will have only 1 service at 10:00am, Both entry doors to the sanctuary will be open at 9:45am to allow time to reflect and pray.  Please distance yourself/family by 6 feet as you enter.
  • We enter following guidelines above (both doors will be open with a door greeter to assist)
  • Collection boxes will be located by each door should you feel led to give an offering on your way in or out. You may also stop by the office or mail your tithes; we also offer online giving.
  • There will be no singing or playing of any wind instruments, during the service at this time. All songs must be prerecorded.
  • We will have children’s time, but all children must remain in their seats and listen to their message. The children will be given a treat as they leave, (that normally would be received at the children’s time) by a gloved greeter at both doors.
  • We will continue to livestream our worship service on Facebook.
  • We will promptly exit the sanctuary and the property while continuing the 6ft distance one section at a time as directed.

Use of the church still does NOT include;

Congregating, access to the fellowship hall or classrooms, Sunday School, Nursery, Power Hours, classes, coffee hour, singing, choir or practice, passing of the peace, physical contact, Meet & Greet, Communion, or passing the collection plates.
